About this site
Overview: Browsers and Bugs
This site is constructed to current web standards, and uses CSS Layout in order to maximise accessibility. Some browsers, such as text-only browsers like Lynx or the browsers installed in mobile phones, do not support Cascading Style Sheets. If you are using such a browser and have any problems reading or navigating this site please let us know.
Internet Explorer troubleshooting
If you are viewing this site in Internet Explorer and can only see a very plain looking black & white layout which stretches from one end of the screen to the other, then your browser may be malfunctioning. Internet Explorer stores copies of every page you visit in a temporary folder known as a cache. If the cache becomes too full, the browser may load pages incompletely, freeze, or even crash your computer. To empty the browser cache you should run the Disk Cleanup utility which is included with all versions of Microsoft Windows. This can usually be accessed by selecting: Start > Programmes > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup.
Netscape 4
Netscape 4 users will notice they have been served the unstyled version of this site. This is due to that particular browser's notoriously faulty support of CSS. The Netscape family of browsers are now in the capable hands of the open-source Mozilla Foundation. Users of older or less powerful computers should consider upgrading from Netscape 4 to the lightweight Mozilla Firefox browser, rather than the full Netscape Browser Suite. If you are viewing this page on a school or college computer running Netscape 4, you may wish to ask your IT department to update your browsing software.
Opera 7
Fixed!Opera 7 users may experience some problems with the drop-down menu. Unfortunately I can find no logical reason for this, but if you have any ideas please feel free to mail me. An Opera-specific style sheet will be added to this site shortly. In the meantime, you should be able to find your way around using the breadcrumb menu, or else may prefer to disable the style sheet entirely.
Credits
The dropdown menu employed in this site is adapted from Chapter 6 of More Eric Meyer on CSS. The Javascript styleswitcher script used to alter the text size was written by Paul Sowden and is available for download from A List Apart, while the boxsizing htc file, which makes Internet Explorer behave itself, is available from WebFX at
